What is Dysphagia?
Difficulty swallowing foods or liquids, arising from the throat or esophagus, ranging from mild difficulty to complete and painful blockage.

What is Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow (FEES)?
A gold-standard diagnostic test to evaluate dysphagia. During the procedure, a nasoendoscope is advanced through the nasal passages to the back of the throat, where it can directly visualize the movement of foods and liquids through the pharynx into the esophagus (or, in cases of aspiration, into the larynx or lower airways). The test is especially useful in debilitated or intensive care patients who may not be able to swallow barium in the radiology suite for videofluoroscopy
